Rack Services / Operations

The Operations Department is divided into three distinct service departments, each responsible for the timely and accurate flow of information related to the financial expenditures for both our parent company and our list of publishing clients.

DSI’s Rack Services is responsible for coordinating the participation of our clients on all display fixtures, across all classes of trade. Our diverse tasks include receiving and disseminating information from manufacturers, consultants and retailers to our publishers, our management and our marketing personnel. We compile and maintain the detailed electronic files for a 7-year history of all fixture programs in the industry. Additionally, we provide an inventory of stock racks for sales force placement of our products in “mom and pop” stores, and coordinated placements of additional displays through galley and news sales organizations.

Rack Services includes the maintenance of DSI’s Display Quality Index database, providing our clients with a detailed history of all checkout titles, their positions and the volume of pockets on all rack configurations within the magazine retail marketplace.

DSI’s RDA Services is responsible for providing timely and accurate expenditure processing of company and client funds for all publisher allowances, while maintaining an exceptional level of customer service. Retail Display Allowance (“RDA”) is an industry term defined as incentive payments from the publisher to the retailer for display of client title(s).

RDA payments are administered through sound accounting, financial reporting and auditing; simple and cost-effective operating processes; proven technologies; ethical business relationships; and a trained and service-oriented workforce. Our success is measured by earning the satisfaction of our customers; the respect and trust of those who govern, support, and do business with us; and by fostering pride throughout the team.

DSI’s Financial Services and Administration is responsible for financial reporting to the parent company and publisher clients, as well as in-house accounts receivable, accounts payable and budgeting. The DSI Administration area also provides the maintenance of contracts, internal and external auditing, reporting to and from the National Distributors and Publishers’ accounting and circulation departments.
